Die, My Sharing Folders, die!!

So you want to have the latest MSN Live Messenger, but you find it annoying it must bring along its friend Sharing folder system. I know the feeling. I scooped arround the web for a bit and found out this solution:

regsvr32 -u "C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\fsshext.8.1.0106.00.dll"

This magical incantation does wonders. If it brings an error message, just figure out the appropriate file for the fsshext-yadda-.dll.

Media covers printing

Hi all! I want to make this blog a useful place to store the software I use, ideas I have, etc. This way not only others may benefit from them, I myself can use it as a backup - for more than 4 or 5 times I was forced to do a full hard drive format and install my working environment from scratch, each time loosing lots of time remembering what I previously was using...

So this post is here to record what I'm using to print media storage covers:

UnderCoverXP

Have a nice week!

A Blogger's environment

I know am pretty comfortable with my blogging tools. I now use Firefox, with the Performancing add-on, along with it's plugin for Flickr image uploading. This post is a test of what it can do. This is a picture of myself:

and this text proves what I wasn't able to do in Hello+Picasa - to place a picture wherever I want.

This means a couple of thumbs up for Performancing!

The R Project for Statistical Computing

Here's a fairly good SPSS replacement. Completely free, and has lots of small contributions for every kind of analysis! Plus, it is updated quite often. Check it out at: The R Project for Statistical Computing

P910i sync online!

I just found Mobical (www.mobical.net). It's a free service that backups your calendar and contacts from your syncML enabled phone. I'm already signed up, and it works great, so far!

EDIT: this also allows to sync your calendar with google calendar. it seems to work!

Performancing update

I'm currently trying out the beta version of performancing, for firefox. It has spell checking out of the box, and supposedly works with blogger beta! let's see that.

Yay!, it works! It now publishes directly, and supports edit of old posts!

After a while without trying any kind of blogging ...

After a while without trying any kind of blogging systems, I'm back to the world. Here's my current settings:

  • A blogger account (beta version) with two blogs:
    • Carpathian cloud, for all my academic and technical posts. Aimed at the common geek :)
    • This one. Aimed for the general audience. PG not necessary, but may be advisable in certain posts!
Hope we can have some fun here!
